Throughout my school years I was encouraged by many fine art teachers. But the dads in my neighborhood wore suits and carried briefcases on their way to work. None of them were heading to the studio. It was natural for me to pursue a career as an engineer.

Some years later, I became an "August painter": every August on our family vacation to Maine, I would unpack the watercolor set, paint in every spare moment, and pack things up until the next August. Painting absorbed me. 

Now I paint every day. I have received watercolor instruction from Thomas Schaller, Don Andrews, and Robert Willis. I have studied figure drawing under Rick Graham and Stan Prokopenko.

My artistic inspirations always evolve. I am moved by the work of Franz Marc, Andrew Wyeth and Bo Bartlett.
